零跑步记录

两个星期没有跑步了 x_X。上星期六回家,明天回去义姐的家,下个星期周末会在印尼的日惹。wonder why I was slacking off for the past few days for not waking up early for jogging....

Marble Butter Cake 大理石蛋糕

Spent about 2 hours to make the Marble Cake last night. Only can try it this morning as I don't like eat right before going to bed. Taste ok and my friends like it. ^_^

Ingredients:
Butter 200g
Caster Sugar 140g
Vanilla Essence 1/2 teaspoon
Egg (lightly beaten) 200g
Cake Flour 200g
Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
Baking Soda 1/4 teaspoon
Cocoa Powder 20g
7cm x 8cm x 28xm cake tray

1) Place the grease paper on the cake tray.
2) Mix the butter with caster sugar using electric mixer.
3) Add in vanilla essence follow by egg, whisk using high speed.
4) Combine the ingredients with cake flour and baking powder, with a rubber spatula, lightly fold the ingredients.
5) Take 300g of the ingredients from step 4, add baking soda and cocoa powder. Fold the ingredients with spatula.
6) Use spatula to place ingredients from step 4 into the tray follow by the ingredients from step 5. Use spatula to slightly mix them to form marble
7) Preheat the oven with 180 degree Celsius and bake for 30 to 35 mins.

Jogging @ Upper Seletar Reservoir Park

原本打算今早到靠近Mandai Road的 Upper Seletar Reservoir Park跑步。可是人算不如天算,半夜3,4点钟就开始下雨了,且还是长命雨 x_X。

唯有看一下书,然后开始做流沙包。花了几个小时做流沙包,失败了 x_X。原来包皮是那么难做的。馅料还可以。剩下一半的馅料,打算星期一早上再尝试做。

下午小歇一会儿后,5点钟,乘着外面空气清爽,便武装自己,步行10分钟到 AMK Bus Interchange 搭 Bus 138 (这辆巴士是到 Singapore Zoo and Night Safari 的)到 Upper Seletar Reservoir Park。

从 AMK Bus Interchange 到 Upper Seletar Reservoir Park大概要20分钟车程。一下车,望向Reservoir Park便看到很多人在垂钓。原来这里也获得钓鱼爱好者的青睐。Reservoir Park的旁边还有一个高尔夫球场。

开始我的慢跑。沿途可以看一看 Reservoir 周边的风景,趣事。有人溜狗,垂钓,跑步,家庭欢乐时光,还可以看到猴兄猴弟们,好不热闹。

Upper Seletar Reservoir Park不算很大,跑一圈大概要20分钟多,我花了1个小时多连续跑了3圈。跑完第二圈的时候曾经有过想停下来休息一会的念头。还好我的毅力战胜了恶魔,跑完了3圈才停下来 ^_^。

Next :Lower Seletar Reservoir Park ^_^。可是应该要等到8月中的周末才能到哪儿一跑。(24/7回老家,31/7去Kepong找义姐, 然后便是 Yogyakarta trip lor...)

流沙包

材料
----

皮:面粉 500克,糖100克,泡打粉15克,酵母5克,水150克,红萝卜一条
馅:咸蛋 5克,牛油100克,糖100克,粟粉70克,奶粉50克

特点:
松软,口感像流沙

小提示:
要注意调节火候,不能一直用大火蒸

1)把红萝卜渣汁。
2)把面粉,泡打粉拌匀开窝,放入酵母,糖,水和匀,搓成面团后加入红萝卜汁。
3)再搓至表面光滑即成。
4)咸蛋蒸熟后压烂。
5)把咸蛋,牛油,糖,粟粉,奶粉拌匀作馅料。
6)把面团搓成长条后分成小份。
7)把小面团压扁,包入馅料,捏成雀笼形。
8)放入蒸笼中静置30分钟后即成。

Banana Chocolate Raisin Muffin

Recipe:

1 3/4 cups (230 grams) all-purpose flour

3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated white sugar

1 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 large eggs, lightly beaten

1/2 cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, melted and cooled

3 ripe large bananas, mashed well (about 1-1/2 cups)

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

50 grams chocolate chips

80 grams raisin

3 tablespoon milk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and place the oven rack in the middle of the oven. Butter or spray with a non stick spray, 12 - 1/2 cup muffin pan.

In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and raisin.

In a medium-sized bowl combine the mashed bananas, eggs, melted butter, milk and vanilla. With a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, lightly fold the wet ingredients (banana mixture) into the dry ingredients just until combined and the batter is thick and chunky. Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tins. Bake about 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Place on a wire rack to cool for five minutes and then remove muffins from pan. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Makes 12 regular sized muffins.

Early Jog @ MacRitchie Reservoir Park

Slept at 1am last night but managed to wake up at 7:30am. You'll wonder why I like to wake up early even though it is Saturday. If I were to answer you, "I don't know, might be because of biological clock that always wake me up before 7:30am or might be because my stomach was complaining for hungriness"

I walked for 15 minutes and headed towards bus station that situated outside of Blk 324 @ Ang Mo Kio ave 3. Boarded bus 74 and and it took me just 10 minutes to reach the bus stop which is opposite to MACRITCHIE RESERVOIR
.

The air at 9am was refreshing and I can't wait to start running ^_^. I started with Chemperai Trail which is an easy and relaxing walk as it is mostly on boardwalk from start to finish, skirting the edge of the reservoir. A short path cutting through the forested area leads you to the start of the trail. While running along the trail, noticed that I was on my way to HSBC Tree Top (which is 5km in distance). I made a 'U-turn' at the 2km point so that it'll be around total 10km in distance for my jogging.

Hightlights:
1) Beautiful vies of the reservoir against the backdrop of dense rainforest.
2) Sights of native creatues of the forest.
3) Occasional glimpses of native birds and monkeys.

I made 2 mistakes for today's jog which was I forgot to bring another new dry shirt so that I can change my wet shirt with it. Another was forgetting to bring a bottle of water which is for drinking after the jog. x_X

Overall, I enjoyed today's jog as this was the 1st time that I can jog for 10km in nonstop. A big CLAP for myself ^_^.

Story on Race Against Cancer 2010 Run

上个星期六,同事 Hackett 到我家留宿一晚。因为第二天早上(加上我的室友 Fook Ping), 我们三人必须在6点前起床,搭 88 号巴士从 Ang Mo Kio Ave 5到 Pasir Ris Bus Interchange (大概45分钟车程),然后步行到附近的 Pasir Ris Park 参加 Race Against Cancer 2010。由于我借了我的被单给 Hackett, 而我自己只用毛巾充当被单,结果因为太冷,睡不好。可怜的我只睡少过3个小时 x_X。

大概7点30分到达 Pasir Ris Park。作了少许的热身,便走向起跑处。由于 Hackett 是第一次参加类似的长跑,他只报名了 5km Fun Run。而我和 Fook Ping 报名了 7.5km Competition Run。7.5km的起跑时间是8点正,而5km Fun Run是8点30分。我建议 Hackett join 我们一起跑 7.5km, 那么他就不需要多等30分钟。可是他必须多跑2.5km,对他来说可是一项不小的挑战。结果,他决定 join我们。

起跑前,我听到有人喊 "Hot Water, Hot Water"。听到 "Hot Water", 大家都有共识地挪出少许空间,让喊 "Hot Water"的人走上前。OMG, 原来后面来了两位很 funny 的参赛者。一位是身穿 Harry Potter 打扮,而另一位更厉害,SIA 空姐打扮,更甚的是还拖着行李箱。难道身穿旗袍的SIA空姐打算拖着行李箱来跑?

开跑枪声鸣后,站在我前面的这两位 funny female participants 果真起跑了。

全程有3个 Water Points,分别在 2.4km, 4.5km和6km处。我全程停了 3次,都是在 Water Point处,为了补充水份。全程都在 Pasir Ris Park,凉风习习 ^_^。我花了大概48分钟半跑完全程,Fook Ping比我迟1分钟到达终点。接着,我们便到终点附近领取 Finisher Medal。主办当局
还提供了矿泉水,香蕉,冰淇淋,Yogurt drink。冰淇淋 ~ 我不敢在出了一身大汗之后领教。

大概15分钟后,Hackett 也到达终点了。他笑嘻嘻地走向咱们 ^^。我恭喜他完成了他人生的第一次长跑。我还建议他去领取 Finisher Medal。毕竟,他完成了7.5km run instead of 5km run。他向我借了 Number Bib, 便去领取 Finisher Medal (5km run的 participant 没有 Number Bib)。

Hackett 告诉我,当他跑到4km处时,就在考虑如何半程弃权,不跑了。还好,最终他完成了。恭喜,恭喜!他还说,他在接近终点时,超越了 Harry Potter和 SIA stewardess。要不然,就会自个儿感觉羞耻了。

8 Kitchen Rules Every Guy Must Know

1 HOLD THE OIL
You can cook just about anything with little added fat. That’s the purpose of non-stick pans and cooking spray. Fill a small spray bottle with canola oil, and spritz the pan before frying an egg, instead of using a pat of butter. This will save you 100 calories and 11 grams of fat. You can also drop some oil onto the pan and wipe it around with a kitchen towel.

2 FORGET FRYING
No other cooking method will dump as much fat into your diet as frying. Steam, bake, poach, broil, or boil it – or sauté it in a little oil – but don’t fry it. When you cook fish or chicken, put away the wok and stick it in the oven. Baste with a bit of lemon or orange juice beforehand.

3 SAUTÉ WITH FLUIDS
The traditional sauté, with oil or butter will transform the healthiest food into a higher fat meal. Try sautéing with broth or wine – or both broth and wine. It’ll taste just as good, if not better, with a fraction of the fat.

4 THE EXCEPTION FOR VEGETABLES
You don’t want to bury the natural flavours of vegetables with broth or wine. Instead use a low heat and add a little oil and water. The slower cooking time will allow the vegetables to release their natural juices, keeping the food from drying out.

5 BUY LEAN
When you stock up on beef, always look for the leanest cuts you can find. A simple way to do this is to look out for marbling – the white streaks of fat in the meat. Your best bet is to stick to eye-round. A 112-gram serving of eye-round contains 5 grams of fat while a choice porterhouse steak contains 25 grams.

6 MAKE LIKE A VIRGIN
There are dozens of olive oils, and knowing which to buy can be a challenge. Buy the cheaper one for cooking as the high heat will dispel much of the flavour. But if you want an oil to drizzle on your salad, spend a little extra on extra-virgin olive oil. The taste is deeper and richer, which means you can use less il to get the same flavour.

7 SPICE UP YOUR LIFE
Don’t cheat your taste buds by ignoring the rich variety of spice flavours out there. And you don’t have to spend a fortune on spices either. An economical way to add spices to your meals is to buy a few spice blends: One each for meat, chicken, fish and vegetables. Then you can slowly add individual spices as you need them.

8 MAKE THE MOST OF BEANS
Here’s a cheap and simple way to reduce fat in your diet. Dry beans, peas and lentils usually come with a recipe on the bag. Lentils, in particular, don’t require the soaking that beans do. You can make a pot of lentil soup in 20-25 minutes and have enough food to eat for a week or to freeze for other times. That’s real low-cost, high-nutrition.

分享:倍增的力量

布什和沙旦表面上是敌人,可是私底下却是好朋友。
有一天沙旦和布什在白宫玩牌,玩着玩着,两个人觉得闷了。

沙旦便提议:“不然我们来赌一盘大的好不好?“。

布什说:“好啊!你输了,我要你给我一块价值100亿美金的油田“。

沙旦愣了一下,因为100亿是非常大的数目。他想了好久,便说: “好!我答应你,不过如果你输了,
你就给我40个基地增加手榴弹。第一个基地给一枚,第二个基地两枚,第三个基地四枚,以此类推,接下来每个基地手榴弹的数量必须是前一个基地的倍数。。“

布什心里在笑着说:“番薯就是凡番薯,手榴弹值那么一点钱,给完你40个基地,也不就值那几万块美金,别说100亿了“
当然,布什开心的答应了。

结果这一盘布什输了,不过他还是轻松的吩咐他的手下:“阿保,你算一下我们必须给沙旦多少枚手榴弹,然后再送他1000枚“,说完便大笑。

阿保便拿起身边的计算机按了按。过了五分钟,布什有点不耐烦了,生气地说:"为什么那么简单的数学题都要算那么久??“

阿保回答说:“总统,数目太大了,我的计算机算不到,我现在自己在白纸上算。“

布什吓了一跳,说:“胡扯!怎么可能?“,说完便把阿保的计算机抢过来算,结果还真的算不出答案。他冒了一身冷汗。

过不久,阿保算完了给布什看,布什看了数目几乎晕倒,因为那是个天文数字。

沙旦哈哈大笑,然后起身说道:“怎么样?能做到吗?“

布什苦笑道:“这怎么可能。老兄,不然我以另一种方式来偿还。你的国土现在不是缺少兵士吗?不然我假装占领你的国家,其实我的兵士是在为你国家服务当着还债,直到我下台为止,这样好吗?"

沙旦看在一场老友的份上便答应了。随着,一场美伊战争便开始了。。。。。。。

p/s:答案是549,755,814,888枚手榴弹。如果一枚手留弹的价钱是USD1,布什都要赔五千多亿美金。可是手榴弹只有值一美金吗?
